EMDR Therapy for Trauma

Heal from the pain of the past.

EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment that is widely recognized by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the U.K. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and the World Health Organization among many organizations in treating trauma symptoms and PTSD [1]. By using bilateral stimulation and safely reflecting on your past experiences, Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy reorganizes how trauma is stored in the brain and body, so that a person can live free from the weight of their past and how it has shaped them.

Trauma contorts how we see the world and how we see ourselves—creating new feelings of fear, shame, or grief that weren’t there before. We all deserve to move on from the pain of our past, but that can be difficult when our nervous system believes that there is something still worth paying attention to.

What becomes possible with EMDR:

  • Relief from painful memories or past experiences

  • A reduced fight-or-flight response in everyday situations or conflicts

  • Feeling more “present” instead of being stuck in your head

  • Healthy grieving of the passing of a loved one

  • Increased confidence in expressing yourself at work and at home

  • Reduced behavioral addiction cravings (doomscrolling, pornography, gambling, etc.)

  • Freedom to live without debilitating anxiety

Hi, I’m Josh.

I’m a father, tv/film nerd, gamer, creative, and *recovering* perfectionist. Trauma has also been a part of my life, but it doesn’t define me. It takes time, but I firmly believe that healing is possible, for anyone and everyone.

EMDR isn’t a magic pill that changes lives overnight, but it certainly has a unique way of addressing deeply rooted issues where traditional talk therapy can sometimes fall short. In my years of doing this work, it’s been my honor walking with others through some of their most difficult moments, and it’s been my joy seeing them find a new sense of wholeness on the other side.

If you have any questions about EMDR, or are interested in what it can do for you, let’s talk!
