“I should be better than this”

– Says the toxic voice in your head

The young adult years bring major transitions—finishing school, starting careers, and settling down into our most meaningful relationships. Maybe you feel burnt out and overwhelmed. You constantly compare yourself to others, never feeling good enough. You doomscroll. And doomscroll (& doomscroll). You’re tired of repeating the same patterns in relationships. Or maybe you even carry shame about seeking therapy, wondering “Shouldn’t I be strong enough to do this on my own?”

If any of this resonates, I’d love to walk with you.

Together, we can befriend our negative self-talk and learn to thrive under pressure. We can build practical skills to feel confident & in control despite our anxiety, and delve deep into the roots that shape how you show up in your life.

Joshua De La Cruz, male teen therapist in Fullerton laughing casually, showing approachable personality

Hi, I’m Josh.

In my years of doing this work, I’ve found that it’s often fear (fear of failure, social anxiety, judgment, disappointing others, etc.) that dictates how little or how big we live. As a trauma therapist, I use a wide range of techniques such as EMDR to bring calm and healing to your nervous system, to end the cycle of collapsing into yourself, and to help you live a life that you are in control and are proud of.

Overwhelm and shame don’t have to be your story. Let’s create something new.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My standard fee is $165 for a 50-minute session and I am in-network with Aetna.

  • Absolutely. At the end of each session, I can generate a receipt (aka "superbill") for you to request reimbursement from your insurance provider. Most people are unaware they can do this – I’m happy to help guide you through how this works!

  • I invite you to still reach out! While spots are limited, I do offer sessions at a reduced rate for those that are eligible. In any case, l'm also more than happy to refer you to other great therapists that can accommodate your financial situation.

  • First of all, know that it is completely normal to feel anxiety, and I want you to have grace, compassion, and gratitude towards yourself for being here. Our first 1-2 intake sessions will be centered on us getting a broad view of your life and goals for therapy. Afterward, you’ll empowered to focus on areas that are the most meaningful for you. We will co-create a warm space for you to be yourself, dive deep into what’s important to you, and discover a path to live the life you want.
